Seahawks Win 8th Straight Carlisle Cup; Sharks 2nd In Class 3A

Hilton Head Island High School received top statewide honors for its athletic programs again in 2017-18, topping the S.C. Athletic Administrators Association’s Carlisle Cup standings for the eighth consecutive year.

The Seahawks totaled 940 points to edge Eastside (920) for the top spot in Class 4A, maintaining their streak of claiming top honors in their classification every year since 2011.

Area schools ranked among the most dominant programs in Class 3A, as well, with May River finishing second with 780 points and Bluffton fifth with 560. May River was the top public school in the classification, trailing only Bishop England (1,270 points).

Beaufort High finished 11th in the Class 4A standings with 440 points, Battery Creek (225) was 25th in Class 3A, Ridgeland-Hardeeville (180) was 33rd in Class 3A, and Whale Branch (130) was 33rd in Class 2A.
