The underdogs absorbed a couple of early punches and fought back with a flurry of big plays as May River went into the Eagles’ Nest on Friday and unseated two-time defending region champion Beaufort High with a 24-21 victory that puts the Sharks in the driver’s seat in Region 7-4A.
A couple of title fights topped the bill on a 10-game slate of high school football games around the Lowco in Week 8. May River knocked off Beaufort High in a heavyweight clash in Region 7-4A, and Thomas Heyward essentially assured it will retain its SCISA Region 1-1A title with a romp over St. John's Christian. Plus, the Seahawks retain the Bridge Bowl trophy, and Beaufort Academy stayed on track for a region title clash with Hilton Head Christian Academy next week.
