HSFB: Wade Hampton Hands Bobcats First Region Loss

Bluffton High School’s region championship hopes took a big hit with a 35-25 home loss to Wade Hampton on Friday.

The Bobcats rallied from an early 14-3 deficit to take a 25-21 lead on Hunter Eldridge’s touchdown pass to John Swinton with 8:16 remaining, but the Red Devils scored twice in the final 6:29 and blocked a Bluffton field goal attempt to remain unbeaten in Region 8-3A play.

Eldridge also threw touchdown passes to Jermaine Patterson and I’Kiem Jefferson, and Evan Hayes booted a field goal for the Bobcats.

Bluffton (5-3, 2-1) is off next week before wrapping up the regular season Oct. 27 at Ridgeland-Hardeeville.
