Thomas Heyward Academy moved a step closer to a region title with a convincing 37-0 win over Dorchester Academy on Friday.
Bobby Payne scored three touchdowns – one receiving, one rushing, and one on a punt return – and Logan Thomas threw a pair of touchdown passes to lead the Rebels to their fifth straight win.
Thomas hit Payne for a 77-yard TD pass on the first play from scrimmage, as the Rebels dominated from the start. J.R. Patterson scored on a 5-yard run to make it 14-0, and Thomas hit Zach Black for a 20-yard TD.
Payne tacked on the next two scores on a 27-yard TD run and a 55-yard punt return.
THA (6-2, 2-0) is scheduled to play at Palmetto Christian next week before wrapping up the regular season with a potential region-title showdown at Colleton Prep on Oct. 27.
