Seth Tucker blazed to the overall men’s title and Sarah Cooke claimed the women’s crown at the Bobcat Scorcher on Saturday morning at Hampton Hall.
Tucker covered the 5-kilometer course in 15:53 to cruise to the finish line first, 57 seconds ahead of Anthony Vecchio, while Cooke finished in 19:18 to win the women’s title by 81 seconds over runner-up Emma Peluso from May River High School.
Six area schools used the race a scrimmage to prepare for the upcoming cross country season, and Bluffton High School’s boys turned in a dominant performance. Bobcats accounted for four of the top seven finishers among high school boys, with Armando Jimenez leading the way in 17:33.
The Bobcat girls also had a strong showing, as four of the top five high school girls to finish were from Bluffton, with the Bobcats’ Perla Jimenez finishing in 20:58, 19 seconds behind Peluso.
