When word filtered out to Team Lowco about the tragic accident that left Beaufort High School multi-sport athlete Anderson Jones fighting for his life and facing a long road to recovery after a severe spinal cord injury, we knew we had to do something to help. Because it’s what we do, but also because we unofficially launched his fan club during hoops season.

Anderson is everyone’s favorite player – the undersized guy who looks like he has no business out there, yet finds a way to be the most impactful player on the basketball court or soccer pitch. He also ran track this spring, specializing in the 400-meter hurdles, and planned to join the Eagles’ football team this fall.

Anderson’s plans have changed, but his fan club still believes he has great things ahead, and we’re here to help the Jones family through this difficult time and also launch a scholarship fund to add another silver lining to an unfortunate twist in Anderson’s story.

With each “Anderson Jones Fan Club” t-shirt sold — available in Beaufort green and UK blue — $10 will go to the Jones family to aid with their medical and travel expenses and $5 will go into a fund to launch a scholarship for a multi-sport student-athlete from the Lowco. We will take orders through Tuesday, July 5, and place the initial order Wednesday, July 6, with products expected to arrive for delivery/shipping on or around July 20.
