Colleton County thought it had a game-ending double play to seal a Game 1 win over visiting Darlington in Game 1 of the Class 4A Lower State softball championship series, only to see the game extended when a close call didn’t go the Cougars' way, and the Falcons took advantage, scoring a pair of runs with two outs and leaving the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh to escape with a 3-2 victory.
HS SB: Cougars fight to the finish, beat Bruins in 11 for district crown
The Colleton County Cougars found the magic just when they needed it most and punched their ticket to the Class 4A softball final four. Maggie Kennedy delivered the clutch two-out hit to cap off an 11th inning rally, and Colleton County topped visiting South Florence 10-9 on Friday to secure the SCHSL Class 4A District 3 championship and advance to the Lower State championship series.
