HSBB: Seahawks Survive Another Thriller To Clip Sharks

Davis Molloy’s blocked shot on the final possession helped Hilton Head High’s boys basketball team escape with a 51-50 win over visiting May River on Friday.

Dean Seelbach’s 3-pointer put the Seahawks up four with less than a minute to play, but Ryan Livingston answered with a 3 to cut it to 51-50. After the Seahawks missed the front end of a 1-and-1, the Sharks had a chance to win it, but Molloy blocked Josh Patterson’s shot to preserve the win for Hilton Head High.

Trevor Wright scored 13 points and Chris Washington added 12 for the Seahawks. Livingston poured in 21 points and Patterson scored 11 for the Sharks.

Hilton Head High’s four games have been decided by a total of 12 points with three coming down to the last possession.

Both teams return to action Tuesday, as the Seahawks (2-2) host Whale Branch and the Sharks (2-1) host Beaufort High.
