Lowco HS Softball Roundup: March 16-19

Region play is fast approaching on the softball diamond, and we’ve got several teams that are starting to make some noise. Here’s the Lowco HS Softball Roundup for March 16-19.

John Paul II at Beaufort Academy

Cayce Graves spun a dazzling one-hit gem, and John Paul II cruised past Beaufort Academy on the road 18-0.  Eight of nine Golden Warriors in the lineup picked up at least one hit.

Hilton Head High collected its eighth consecutive win Thursday with an 8-3 home victory over Battery Creek as South Carolina commit Reagan Marchant had another monster night at the plate and Delcie Swift tossed a complete game.

Beaufort High at John Paul II

John Paul II and Beaufort High played to a 2-2 stalemate Thursday in Ridgeland. The Eagles scored a run in the second and fifth innings to take a 2-0 lead, but a walk and wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth inning brought the Golden Warriors back.

Bluffton’s offense heated up in the middle innings and the Bobcats held off a late rally to score a 6-5 victory Thursday at River Bluff.

Bluffton White Knoll (DH)

USC Aiken commit Marlena Perez struck out 13 Bobcats in a no-hitter in a 9-0 win in the opener and closed out a 5-4 victory in the nightcap. After the Bobcats cut the lead to 5-3 on Katie Ryan’s RBI double in the fifth, Perez came in and got a pair of groundballs, but the Timberwolves booted one to bring Bluffton within one run and put the tying run on base. But Perez struck out the next two batters to end it and complete the sweep.
