Lowco HS Baseball Roundup: March 16-18

The pecking order in Region 7-4A is still being established, and Lowco squads are fighting for position in the crowded middle of the pack, but Hilton Head Prep continues to lay claim to the title of the Lowco’s dominant SCISA squad after no-hitting a region rival Friday. Here’s the Lowco HS Baseball Roundup for March 16-18.

James Island at May River

The Sharks managed only two hits against Clemson catcher commit Hogan Garner and reliever Keillor Osbon, who combined for seven strikeouts and allowed just four baserunners to lead the Trojans to a 5-1 road win and a series sweep. Garner outdueled May River freshman Tysen Brasington, who limited a potent James Island offense to two runs (one earned) over five innings.

The Eagles couldn’t muster much at the plate against Matty Brown, who struck out nine in a complete game two-hitter to lead the Wildcats to a 5-0 win in the first of a home-and-home series.

Landon Schwartz, Phoenix Betancourt, and Connor Campbell each tossed two innings of no-hit ball and combined for 12 strikeouts as the Dolphins limited the Golden Warriors to a pair of walks in a 10-0 win. Phoenix Betancourt had a homer and three RBIs to lead HHP’s offense.
