The Friday Night Lights were shining bright in Week 1 of the high school football season, but the stars of the night were even more brilliant.
In case this is anyone’s first season following high school football on LowcoSports.com, each week we’ll solicit nominations from area coaches and scour the stats to narrow the list to 10 nominees for the RBC Heritage Player of the Week.
A voting committee of myself (Justin Jarrett), WSAV’s Greg Talbott, WJCL’s Frank Sulkowski, and The Island News’ Mike McCombs will each cast our vote, with a fifth vote being determined by online fan voting (see below). In the event of a tie, the winner of the fan vote will serve as the tiebreaker.

Bobby Payne, HHCA — 3-76 rushing, TD; 4-67 receiving, TD in 46-22 loss at Thomas Heyward
