Hilton Head High’s girls cross country team raced to a second consecutive runner-up finish in Class 4A at the SCHSL State Championships on Saturday in Columbia.
Isabel Muehleman and Sarah Neville finished sixth and seventh to lead the Seahawks, who finished with 72 points, second only to Daniel (49). Daniel had the top three individual finishers en route to the state championship.
Beaufort High finished ninth with Shannon Smith leading the way in 15th place, and Bluffton was 16th as Kaitlyn McDonagh plached 16th.
Hilton Head High’s boys won the state title, marking the 10th time in 11 years both Seahawks teams have placed in the top two.
