May River’s boys and girls cross country teams each finished third in Class 3A at the SCHSL State Championships on Saturday in Columbia.
Emma Peluso finished fourth with a 5K time of 19:25 and Victoria Sosa was seventh in 19:56 to lead the Shark girls, whose 141 points placed them behind Seneca (52) and Waccamaw (91).
May River’s boys used a balanced performance to finish third with 97 points, behind Bishop England (50) and Waccamaw (68). Owen Andrews (16:41) led the way with a 10th-place finish as the Sharks’ top six runners cracked the 18-minute mark and finished among the top 31 overall.
