HSXC: Gilman, Seahawks Triumph At Coaches Classic

Hilton Head High’s Sam Gilman claimed another high-profile win and led the Seahawks’ boys cross country team to a team title Saturday at the Coaches Classic in Columbia.

Gilman ran a 5K time of 16:01 to edge Greer’s Coen Roberts to two seconds for the individual title, and the Seahawks’ next four runners all cracked the 18-minute mark as Hilton Head High defeated runner-up Eastside by 26 points.

Beaufort High finished 18th among 69 teams with Marlon Belden leading the way in 15th with a time of 17:03. Bluffton finished 24th, as Armando Jimenez (17:28) paced the Bobcats with a 37th-place finish.
