May River’s girls finished second and claimed two individual titles at the Class 3A track & field championships Saturday in Columbia.
Led by individual champions Madison Lewellen (1600) and Cathryn Roberts (pole vault), the Sharks finished with 56 points, second only to champion Waccamaw (76). Emma Peluso finished third in the 800 and the 1600, and Lewellen also placed fourth in the 800.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville finished 13th, led by a pair of runner-up finishes from Lenasia Singletary in the 100 and 200. Battery Creek was 16th, and Bluffton was 20th.
Hilton Head High’s girls finished fourth in Class 4A with 49 points, as Tori Herman won the 1600 and the Seahawks claimed the 4×800 relay title. Isabel Muehleman finished second in the 800, third in the 3200, and fifth in the 1600 for the Seahawks.
Beaufort High finished 11th, led by Keyasha Brown’s runner-up finish in the 100.
Whale Branch finished 11th in Class 2A, led by a runner-up finish in the 4×100 relay.
