The SCHSL baseball playoffs are set to begin Tuesday with six area teams ready for postseason action.
In Class 4A, Beaufort High is the No. 2 seed in District VI and opens at home against No. 3 seed Myrtle Beach. The winner is likely to face fifth-ranked Lugoff-Elgin in the second round of the double-elimination bracket.
Also in Class 4A, Hilton Head High is the No. 3 seed in District V. The Seahawks have a tough draw, sharing the same four-team bracket with two top-10 teams – first-round opponent No. 9 North Myrtle Beach and top-ranked Chapin.
In Class 3A, May River and Bluffton will open at home, while Battery Creek starts on the road.
The Sharks are the top seed in District VIII and will host Timberland in their opener with the winner advancing to take on Gilbert or Dillon on Thursday.
No. 2 seed Bluffton opens District V play against Manning and will have to get past sixth-ranked Strom Thurmond to advance to the Lower State tournament.
Battery Creek travels to top-ranked Bishop England to open District VII play.
In Class 2A, Whale Branch is the No. 3 seed in District VIII and opens at Johnsonville.
