Beaufort High track and field swept the team titles Saturday at the Marwin Kline Invitational hosted by Whale Branch Early College High School.
Desmond Gaillard won three events and Reggie Jones Jr. won two to lead the Beaufort boys in a dominant performance, as the Eagles finished with 198 points to nearly triple runner-up Wade Hampton’s total of 71.
Gaillard won the high jump (6-0), long jump (20-8) and triple jump (44-11.5), while Jones claimed the 110 hurdles (15.19) and 400 hurdles (57.99) titles. Other Beaufort champions were Alex Macias in the pole vault (11-0) and Isaiah Parker in the shot put (51-8), and the Eagles also won the 4×100 relay.
May River’s boys claimed the 4×800 and 4×400 relays, and Hilton Head High’s Max Baez won the 800 (2:08.04).
Beaufort’s girls scored 162 points to edge runner-up May River by 21 points.
The Eagles had four individual champions – Keyasha Brown in the 100 hurdles (15.33), Reyonce Black in the 100 meters (12.57), Ariaughn Bobian in the long jump (16-7), and Tiana Litman in the shot put (31-7).
May River won the 4×800 and 4×400 relays and had six individual winners – Madison Lewellen in the 1,600 (5:43.06), Emma Peluso in the 800 (2:28.39), Victoria Sosa in the 3,200 (12:37.18), Elexis Ramsey in the high jump (5-0), Cathryn Roberts in the pole vault (11-6), and Maya Williams in the discus (87-2).
Whale Branch won the girls 4×100 relay, Bluffton’s Judaah Mitchell claimed the 400 (1:00.58), and Hilton Head’s Kaitlyn Holland won the triple jump (34-4.5).
