The star-studded rosters for the inaugural Blitz Border Bowl have been released, and Beaufort High and Bluffton lead the way with eight selections each for the Lowcountry all-stars.
The top senior football players from throughout Beaufort, Jasper and Hampton counties will square off against their counterparts from the Savannah area at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 13 at Pooler Stadium.
Bluffton quarterback Hunter Eldridge and Beaufort High running back Kyleik Middleton are among the headliners on the offense. Eldridge passed for 2,414 yards with 33 touchdowns and 12 interceptions for the Bobcats, while Middleton rushed for 1,260 yards and 15 scores.
Hilton Head High teammates Landon Jenkins (22 TFL, 12 sacks) and Tyreke Young (20 TFL, 14 sacks), Beaufort High’s Reid Daughtry (10.5 sacks), Bluffton’s Richard Jenkins (127 tackles), and Thomas Heyward’s Zach Bond (141 tackles) will anchor the defense.
Bluffton’s John Houpt will serve as the team’s head coach with a staff of assistants from area schools.
The event is being presented by WSAV and the Savannah Morning News with proceeds benefiting the Ronald McDonald House. The game will be broadcast live on WSAV and tickets are available at blitzborderbowl.cityspin.com.
