HS XC: Seahawks Sweep Team Titles At Sandhills

Hilton Head Island High School’s cross country teams swept the elite green division titles at the Sandhills Invitational on Saturday in Columbia.

Sam Gilman won the 5K boys race in 15:18 with Seahawk teammates Ryan Moosbrugger (4th, 15:50) and Joshua Williams (6th, 15:57) also cracking the 16-minute mark in top-10 finishes.

The Seahawks placed four girls in the top seven and five in the top 15. Isabel Muehleman led the way in third place (18:44), followed by Sarah Cooke in fifth (19:05), Tori Herman in sixth (19:13), Mallory Liggett in seventh (19:14), and Sarah Neville in 15th (19:48)

Bluffton High School’s boys were 16th in the green division, and Beaufort High School was 20th. Bluffton’s girls finished 10th in the green division.

In the gold division, May River High School’s boys were second with Owen Andrews (17:06) leading the way in eighth. The Sharks were third in the girls gold division with three runners in the top 10 – Madison Lewellen in fifth (20:19), Victoria Sosa in seventh (20:26), and Emma Peluso in eighth (20:38).

Beaufort’s girls were eighth and Battery Creek was 16th in the gold division.
