Lowco HS Boys Lacrosse Roundup: March 17-19

It was another big week for the May River Sharks on the lacrosse field, earning a pair of dominant 12-goal victories over Beaufort High and Academic Magnet. Here’s a look at all the action in the Lowco Boys Lacrosse Roundup. 


May River at Beaufort High 

May River lacrosse was all smiles on Saint Patrick’s Day, pounding Beaufort High on the road 17-5 behind a school-record nine assists from Brooks van Esselstyn.The Sharks jumped out to a commanding 9-1 lead at the end of the first quarter before building the advantage to 13-1 at halftime. May River was ferocious on the defensive end, recording 17 caused turnovers on the night.

Hilton Head High at Lucy Beckham

Hilton Head High couldn’t keep up with Lucy Beckham on the road Thursday in a 15-4 defeat.

Next up: HHIHS (5-3, 5-3) vs. James Island on Monday

Bluffton at James Island

Bluffton came up just short on the road Thursday in a narrow 6-5 loss to James Island.

Academic Magnet at May River 

May River swung the hammer again Saturday in a strong 17-5 home victory over Academic Magnet.After a defensive struggle early on, the Sharks grabbed the upper hand in the second quarter and rode their momentum the rest of the way.
