Offense was at a premium, but the Bobcats manufactured a run to get the scoring started. East Tennessee State commit Nate Hoyt drew a leadoff walk in the second, swiped second and took third on a throwing error, and scored on Miles Frye’s sacrifice fly for a 1-0 lead.
Martucci allowed a leadoff single to UAB commit Christian Stratis before sitting down six straight Seahawks. He gave up another single leading off the third before retiring the next four. A one-out error allowed the Seahawks to scrape across a run in the fourth, as Connor Wiendl singled with two outs to score Jake Richardson and tie it at 1, but Mitch Watson was gunned down at the plate to keep it even.
Connor MacCabe picked up his second leadoff single of the game to start the fifth and moved to second on a sacrifice before Stratis doubled to center to give HHIHS a 2-1 lead. Martucci recovered to keep the Seahawks off the board for the final two innings and give his team a chance to walk it off, and the Bobcats obliged.
Frye singled with one out but was cut down at third trying to take two bases on Cody Bradt’s bunt single to take the Bobcats down to their final out. Preston Burnside kept it alive with a single to right, and Arseneau ripped a double to plate two runs and set off the celebration.
The Bobcats (3-2, 1-0) travel to Hilton Head High (3-4, 0-3) on Wednesday to conclude the series.
