HSBSB: Eagles rally late, Eddy shuts down Hurricanes

Hilton Head Christian Academy baseball scored five runs in the fourth and tacked on three more over its final two at-bats to rally for a 9-4 home win over the Coastal Hurricanes homeschool program on Monday.

Ben Eddy kept the Eagles in it with four sterling innings of relief work, striking out six and allowing just four hits while holding the Hurricanes scoreless after Coastal took a 4-1 lead through three innings.

The Eagles started the fourth with three straight singles from Keene Reese, Dylan Clark, and Morgan Bedenbaugh before Colton Young drew a walk to force home a run. Matt Scarpa followed with an infield single to cut the deficit to one, and Jace Blackshear pushed across another with a fielder’s choice to tie it before Jackson Lanier gave HHCA its first lead with a clutch two-run double.

Eddy allowed baserunners in the fifth and sixth but avoided damage, and he struck out the first two batters in the seventh before getting a flyout to right to end it.

HHCA (8-2) plays at Beaufort Academy on Tuesday.
