HS BTEN: Beaufort begins region title defense with sweep of Bobcats

After a historic run to the Class 4A Lower State finals a year ago, Beaufort High boys tennis opened its season with a dominant 6-0 sweep at Bluffton on Tuesday.

The Eagles swept all five singles matches while dropping just one game, and Charlie Bowden and Grisham Stone outlasted Bluffton’s Nick Andreoletti and William Zendzian in a marathon three-setter to finish the sweep at No. 2 doubles, winning the final set 16-14.

Beaufort (1-0, 1-0) faces a tough test Thursday, hosting SCISA 3A power Hilton Head Prep. Bluffton (0-1, 0-1) hosts Hilton Head High for another region matchup Thursday.
