Beaufort High boys basketball moved one step closer to a region title with a 67-44 home win Friday over Colleton County on Senior Night.
The senior honorees did plenty of damage, as James Dennison led the way with 25 points, 24 rebounds, and three blocked shots in one of his most dominant performances in a season full of them, and Jake Alvarez continued his strong play with 14 points and four assists.
Michael Dennison added 14 points and 12 boards for the Eagles, who were without senior star Zyrin Odom.
Beaufort (12-5, 9-1) travels to May River on Thursday. Win or lose, the Eagles will have a chance to clinch the Region 7-4A title with a win at James Island on Friday. The Cougars (6-14, 2-10) have completed their season, barring an at-large berth in the Class 4A playoffs.
