HSGBB: HHCA fends off challenge from JPII

Tamya Hutchinson scored 24 points to lead the way, while Abby Peduzzi added 12 points, and Devon Yarde had nine to help HHCA seal the victory.

Maddie Heathcott had another huge game to keep JPII in it, racking up 15 points and 13 rebounds along with two steals, and Brady Mahoney continued her outstanding play with eight points and nine boards.

“We went into tonight with a goal of closing the gap against HHCA and that’s exactly what we did,” JPII coach Karen Floyd said. “They are a dominant force, especially with their guards, but our girls put forth their best effort and we’re proud of them.”

HHCA (19-2, 11-0) was scheduled to host SCISA 3A power Cardinal Newman on Wednesday, but that game was canceled. The Eagles host Thomas Heyward on Thursday. JPII (7-8, 5-4) hosts Hilton Head Prep on Wednesday.
