Bluffton girls basketball stayed perfect in Region 7-4A play since 2019 with a 42-31 home win over second-place James Island on Tuesday.
The Bobcats were in command from the beginning, leading by eight after the first quarter and holding the line for a 21-13 halftime advantage. The Trojans climbed within four going to the fourth, but Bluffton closed it out as Tacoya Heyward put up 11 points in the final period.
Heyward racked up 20 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and seven steals in another stellar performance, and backcourt mate Katie Rodney collected 11 points, three boards, three assists, and four steals. Ja’laina Mosley added six points and nine rebounds for the Bobcats, and Trinity Fields came up big on the glass with 12 boards, including five at the offensive end, to help fill the void inside left by Madi Washington’s season-ending injury.
Andrea Duncan scored 14 points to lead James Island.
The Bobcats (19-1, 11-0) close out the regular season at home against Lucy Beckham on Thursday.
