HSXC: Mighty Lions sweep team titles at Fripp

Holy Trinity cross country swept the team titles at an eight-team meet Tuesday on Fripp Island. 

The Mighty Lions edged Hilton Head Prep by two points for the boys title, finishing with 38 points as all five of Holy Trinity’s scoring runners finished in the top 11. Junior Daniel Reedy led the way for the Lions with a runner-up finish in 19:28, as CBCCA’s Jesse Richardson blazed to the individual title with a 5K time of 18:39.

The next three runners across the line were Hilton Head Prep’s Beckett Jones (19:32), Jimmy Kuehler (19:39), and Ernest Friday (20:11), while Hilton Head Christian Academy’s Noah Kaufman (20:23) was sixth. Holy Trinity’s Sam Moore (20:40), Caleb Stone (20:48), and Ethan Marquardt (20:59) and HHCA’s Dawson Taylor (20:56) also notched top-10 finishes.

Only two teams entered full girls lineups with Holy Trinity (25) beating HHCA by five points. CBCCA junior Ashleigh Keisling took the individual title in 24:43, edging Holy Trinity freshman Bryant Salley by eight seconds. Holy Trinity’s Ellie Schaub (26:06) and HHCA’s LIly Chase (26:23) and Anna Kate Taylor (26:25) rounded out the top five.

The teams are back in action Tuesday at Hilton Head Christian Academy.
