HS GOLF: Bowes, Sharks dominant in first match at Golden Bear

Kylie Bowes claimed low medalist honors and led the defending Class 4A champion May River girls golf team to an impressive win in the first Region 7-4A meet of the season Tuesday at Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run.

Led by Bowes’ nine-hole score of 38, the Sharks posted a team total of 164 to beat runner-up Hilton Head High by 25 shots. Bluffton (192) was third, three shots behind the Seahawks, with Beaufort High (247) fourth.

Bowes, who committed to Marshall this summer, edged teammate Claire Green by one shot for medalist honors with another Shark, Robbin Zetrouer, in third with a 41. Jennifer Richardson and Anna LaPour led Bluffton with matching 44s, while Alexia Milbrandt’s 45 paced the Seahawks.

The teams are back in action Thursday at Pinecrest Golf Club in Bluffton.
