HS BSB: Cougars shut down Bobcats for first region win

Colleton County baseball broke it open with a five-run third inning, and Dustin Hadwin and Dakota Dandridge combined on a two-hitter as the Cougars won 7-1 at Bluffton on Wednesday for their first Region 7-4A win.

The bottom of the lineup came up big for the Cougars, as Bruce Carpenter went 2-for-4 and scored twice, and JC Poe was 3-for-4 with two runs in the No. 9 spot. Jackson Bell went 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Grayson Cromer was 1-for-4 and drove in two runs.

Hadwin was in command over five innings, allowing one run and two hits with two strikeouts and one walk, and Dandridge retired all six batters he faced with one strikeout to close it out.

Grant Musselman and Nate Hoyt had the only hits for the Bobcats.

The Cougars (4-8, 1-3) host Oceanside Collegiate on Thursday. 

The Bobcats (3-5, 1-5) face Oceanside on Friday at Shipyard Park in Mount Pleasant.
