Madison Sanchez finished a single shy of hitting for the cycle and drove in seven runs, and Kylie Rast added three hits and scored six runs as Beaufort High softball routed Hilton Head High 19-7 on the road Monday for the Eagles’ first Region 7-4A win.
Rast and Nezi’le Chinchilla set the table all night and Sanchez cleaned it off repeatedly as the first three batters in the Beaufort lineup combined to go 8-for-13 with 11 runs and nine RBIs.
Sanchez was the brightest star, blasting a grand slam to go with a double and a triple and drawing a pair of walks to pace the Eagles, who smacked 12 hits and took advantage of eight HHIHS errors. Rast was 3-for-5 with an RBI and scored a whopping six times, and Chinchilla went 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored three runs.
Rast also earned the win in the circle, going the distance and racking up 12 strikeouts while allowing just one earned run with six hits and five walks.
Reagan Marchant was 2-for-3 with a triple, Leah Anderson went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Leah Jackson added a two-run doubles for the Seahawks. Shaina Lugo also drove in two runs for HHIHS.
Beaufort (4-9, 1-4) hosts the Seahawks (0-8, 0-5) for the series finale Wednesday, but HHIHS first hosts May River on Tuesday.
