Beaufort High’s boys finished seventh among 21 teams, and Hilton Head High’s Laney Duncan placed fifth in the girls race at the Darlington Cross Country Carnival on Saturday.
Gavin Moore led the way for Beaufort’s boys, as the seventh-grader placed 18th with a time of 17:41, followed closely by teammates Connor Eby (24th, 17:58) and Joseph Patterson (34th, 18:14).
Duncan led the local contingent in the girls race, finishing in 19:52 to place fifth, just 34 seconds behind champion Hannah Vroon of James Island.
Beaufort’s girls finished 17th with Charlize Antia (16th, 21:02) leading the Eagles.
