LowcoSports.com put the finishing touches on the 2019 high school football season Saturday morning with the second annual All-Lowco Football Awards brunch at British Open Pub in Bluffton.
More than 30 area players and coaches and dozens of guests attended the event celebrating the 2019 Station 300 All-Lowco Football Team.
We also handed out the superlative awards, which went to Hilton Head Christian Academy quarterback Hayden Shinn (Offensive Player of the Year), Hilton Head High star Cole DeMarzo (Defensive Player of the Year), and Thomas Heyward Academy’s Nic Shuford (Coach of the Year).
Shinn passed for 3,662 yards with 50 touchdowns and 15 interceptions while leading HHCA to a SCISA 2A state runner-up finish. He also led the Eagles with 834 rushing yards and 10 TDs.
DeMarzo finished the season with 102 tackles, eight tackles for loss, three sacks, two interceptions, 10 pass breakups, and two forced fumbles for HHIHS. The Michigan State signee also was a standout receiver for the Seahawks.
Shuford led the Rebels to a second consecutive SCISA 1A state championship, capped by a dominant win in the state championship game over a Bethesda Academy team that beat Thomas Heyward in the regular season.
