The rosters have been finalized, and the Lowco is ready to try to retain its Blitz Border Bowl title.
Many of the top senior football players from the Lowcountry will square off against their counterparts from the Coastal Empire in the third annual all-star game at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Savannah’s Memorial Stadium.
WSAV and the Savannah Morning News partner to put on the event, which benefits Ronald McDonald House Charities.
The teams have split the first two meetings, with the Georgia team winning the inaugural game in 2018 and the Lowco squad rallying for a wild 35-34 victory last year.
Team Lowco has expanded its borders a bit this season to include from 12 schools — Battery Creek, Beaufort High, Bluffton, Colleton County, Hilton Head Christian Academy, Hilton Head High, May River, Ridgeland-Hardeeville, Thomas Heyward Academy, Wade Hampton, Whale Branch, and Woodland. Longtime Whale Branch head coach Jerry Hatcher will serve as the head coach for the Lowcountry.
Tickets to the game are $10, or you can watch it live on WSAV or online at wsav.com/livestream. LowcoSports founder Justin Jarrett will provide color commentary during the live broadcast.
