Although no one claimed a state title, it was a banner year for area high school baseball teams, thanks in large part to the members of the second annual All-Lowco Baseball Team.
Led by region championship winning squads at Beaufort High, May River, and Hilton Head Prep, the Lowcountry was well-represented in the playoffs at every level of competition. These guys represent the best of the best.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Chris Wells, Hilton Head Prep
Already a well-known and respected coach in the local high school ranks from his tenure at Hilton Head High, Wells took over a youthful Hilton Head Prep program this season and led the Dolphins to a 15-6 record and a region title just one year after a one-win season.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Josh Patterson, May River
After earning Player of the Year honors a year ago, Patterson put together quite an encore season in his senior campaign. He went 4-1 with a 3.00 ERA on the mound and batted .446 with five homers and 32 RBIs at the plate to help the Sharks capture a second consecutive region title.
