Beaufort High scored the tying run in the bottom of the sixth and won it in the bottom of the seventh to stay undefeated with a 7-6 home victory over Hilton Head High on Wednesday.
The late rally helped the Eagles overcome four errors, including one that resulted in the Seahawks taking a 6-5 lead in the top of the sixth. A pair of hit batsmen and a sacrifice bunt set the stage for Ethan Graham’s sacrifice fly to plate the tying run. In the bottom of the seventh, Luke Londono and Rhogue Wallace drew walks before a two-out error on Christian Londono’s ground ball allowed the winning run to score.
The rally made a winner of Paul Winland, who struck out three and allowed one unearned run on two hits in three innings of relief.
Graham was 1-for-3 with three RBIs, and Brendan Bowersox was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Beaufort. Matt MeBane was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, Jeff Hayes was 2-for-5 with a run, and Daniel Keber was 1-for-4 with a run and two RBIs for the Seahawks.
The Seahawks (7-4, 0-2) host the Eagles (10-0, 2-0) for the finale of the three-game Region 7-4A series at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
