Hilton Head Prep grabbed a six-shot lead after the first round of the Lowcountry Invitational on Tuesday.
The defending SCISA 2A state champion Dolphins posted a team score of 225 at Chechessee Creek Club and lead Bishop England by six strokes entering Wednesday’s final round at Berkeley Hall. Hilton Head Christian Academy (240) is third, followed by Hilton Head High (242).
JT Herman led Hilton Head Prep with an even-par 70 on a blustery day in which only nine of the 32 players in the field broke 80. Herman has a three-shot advantage over Bishop England’s Austin Scott, while Bluffton’s Ricky Weathers is four strokes off the lead and Beaufort High’s Jerry Bruns is five back.
The final round gets underway at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday with the leaders teeing off at 12:02 p.m.
