Hilton Head High’s girls claimed a runner-up finish and the boys finished third at the SCHSL Class 4A Swimming Championships on Friday in Columbia.
Kevin Geist won a pair of state titles for the Seahawk boys, claiming the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly to lead a list of 10 Seahawks who earned all-state honors with top-three finishes.

Geist set school records in both events and contributed to a new school mark in the 200 free relay along with Cohen Bruner, Sam Alsobrook, and Tommy Hughson. Bruner set school marks in the 50 and 100 free, as the Seahawk boys rewrote the school records in five of 11 events. Bruner earned all-state honors with runner-up finishes in the 200 free and the 400 free relay along with Geist, PIerce Daly, and Hughson. Hughson also placed third in the 500 free.
Meaghan Lyons anchored the Seahawk girls, placing second in the 200 IM and 100-yard breaststroke — including a school record in the 100 breaststroke — and contributing to third-place finishes in the 200 and 400 free relays. Isabella Pozos, Mia Sinkiewicz, and Kyla King joined Lyons on the 200 free relay team, while Pozos, Sinkiewicz, and Skylar Bruner joined her in the 400 free relay.

Bluffton Sam Schwabauer claimed the only other podium finish by a local swimmer, placing third in the boys 200 IM. The Bobcat boys finished sixth with the girls 14th, while Beaufort’s boys were 12th and the girls were 13th.
