For the second straight week, a Beaufort High School player has run away with the Player of the Week voting, which is appropriate considering the Eagles are running all over everyone they play.
That’s right, with 41.2 percent of the vote this week, Kyleik Middleton is the people’s choice for the RBC Heritage High School Football Player of the Week. Middleton won by a comfortable margin over Beaufort High teammate Reed Reichel, who garnered 22.5 percent of the vote.
It’s hard to argue with the majority. I mean, Middleton rushed for 275 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-21 win over Bluffton. If you love defense, though, you might be inclined to go with Hilton Head Island High School’s Tyreke Young, who put up a solid season-long sack total in one night and finished third in the voting with 14.2 percent. Just saying.
Who will earn the title next week? Let’s just hope we have a chance to find out. Irma seems to be the early favorite.
Be safe out there, y’all.
