HS XC: Seahawks’ Gilman Runs To Boys Title In Charlotte

Hilton Head Island High School junior Sam Gilman won the boys title at the Providence Invitational on Saturday at McAlpine Park, covering the 5K course in 15:45 to win by seven seconds.

The Seahawks finished second in the team standings with 108 points, while Weddington High School won the team title with 56 points.

Joshua Williams was ninth in 16:20, while Ryan Boosbrugger finished 14th in 16:31. Corbin McKinney (17:14) placed 36th, and Colton Thune (17:46) was 56th to round out the scoring for the Seahawks.

The HHIHS girls finished third with 91 points behind Weddington (62) and Green Hope (87).

Isabel Muehleman (19:24) and Sarah Cooke (19:26) finished 15th and 16th to lead the Seahawks, while Mallory Liggett (19:35) and Tori Herman (19:43) were 19th and 20th. Abbigale Gross (19:56) was 26th to round out the scoring for HHIHS.
