A total of 65 student-athletes from Beaufort County public schools signed scholarships last school year, according to documentation the district released ahead of Thursday’s Coaches Convocation.
All six of the district’s high schools had at least two athletes sign to compete at the next level with Hilton Head Island High School leading the way with 26. Bluffton High School had 13 student-athletes land scholarships, while Beaufort High School had 11, May River High School netted eight, Whale Branch Early College High School had five, and Battery Creek High School had two.
The 65 scholarship athletes were spread over 15 sports with more coming from football (15) than any other sport. Of the 65, 19 signed to play at NCAA Division I schools with HHIHS leading the way with seven D1 signees.
