Lowco HS Girls Soccer Roundup: March 21-22

Hilton Head Prep and Hilton Head Christian Academy continued their winning ways at home, and a shorthanded Beaufort High squad earned a key region win over Colleton County. Here’s the Lowco HS Girls Soccer Roundup for March 21-22, presented by Horizon Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. 

MONDAY’S GAMES

Colleton Prep at John Paul II

Sadie Moulton and Paige Weniger scored two goals each, and John Paul II notched a 5-2 region win Monday over visiting Colleton Prep. Brenna Frank added a goal for the Golden Warriors, and both Ashley Burke and Evelyn Melnick tallied an assist. Lauren Weniger and Melody Guilbe led a strong defensive effort. 

Palmetto Christian at HHCA

Abby Peduzzi continued her monster start to her junior season with a hat-trick, and Hilton Head Christian Academy downed Palmetto Christian 5-1 at home Monday. Peduzzi delivered a seven-point night with three goals plus an assist, while Bless Hurtado added an unassisted goal alongside an assist. Addie Lentz found the back of the net, and Devon Yarde tallied a pair of assists. Kenzie Bryant and Macy Langhals anchored a fantastic defensive performance, and Isabelle Cunningham made three saves in net.

Whale Branch at St. John’s

Trinady Downs scored a pair of goals, Jalaila Jenkins added a goal and an assist, and Kailey Pusha Weeks netted a goal to lead the Warriors to a 4-1 road win to stay perfect in Region 7-1A. Glentia Graham and Tori White also had assists for Whale Branch.

Up next: WB (3-4, 2-0) vs. CCHS on Friday


TUESDAY’S GAMES

John Paul II at Hilton Head Prep

Hilton Head Prep girls soccer delivered a complete effort against its region rivals on Tuesday in a 10-0 home rout over John Paul II. Averi Alton scored four goals to lead the Dolphins, Courtney Campbell added two goals, and Ella Clark, Ashlyn Parsick, Cat Zamora, and Bryn Miller also found the back of the net. Parsick racked up two assists for a four-point night, and Emily Brothers recorded the clean sheet in net. 

Up next: HHP (5-1, 1-0) vs Hoover (Ala.) on Friday; JPII (4-2, 1-1) at Palmetto Christian on Friday


Beaufort High at Colleton County

Beaufort High showed its resiliency Tuesday in a well-earned 5-0 shutout win at Colleton County for the Eagles’ first Region 7-4A victory. With several key players sidelined with injuries, freshman Lele Cooler stepped up with a pair of goals. Blair Scarpa, Gianna Pacheco, and Charlotte Loomis found the back of the net, and goalkeeper Quinn Wilson recorded the clean sheet.

Up next: BHS (1-5, 1-4) at May River on Friday; CCHS (2-5, 0-5) at Whale Branch on Friday


Patrick Henry at Holy Trinity

Freshman Callah Dando shined with a hat-trick, and Holy Trinity defended its home field Tuesday in a 3-0 shutout of Patrick Henry. Mary Clanton Bozard stopped all six shots she faced in goal to record a clean sheet.

May River at Lucy Beckham

May River couldn’t keep up with a strong Lucy Beckham offense Tuesday in a 5-1 road defeat. 

The Bengals took a 1-0 advantage at halftime and dominated after the intermission with four goals to pull away from the Sharks. Lilliana Iacofano led Lucy Beckahm with a hat-trick, and Cameron Foley scored a goal and added three assists.  Freshman Brooke Dalton scored May River’s lone goal in the last minute of play.
