HSBSB: Bobcats ambush Eagles with 9-run first

First-year Hilton Head Christian Academy baseball coach JW Wilkerson’s return to his alma mater in the visiting dugout didn’t go according to plan, as Bluffton routed the former Bobcats and his Eagles 19-2 in three innings Friday at Hank Johnston Stadium.

Nico Martucci struck out five and allowed two runs on four hits in a three-inning complete game, throwing 33 of his 43 pitches for strikes, and the Bobcats racked up 10 walks and eight hits while taking advantage of seven HHCA errors.

Jackson Lanier, Jesse Hall, Keene Reese, and Colton Young each had a hit for the Eagles, and Reese drove in a run. Young started and was tagged with the loss, struggling to locate the strike zone before giving way to Hayden Brooks in the nine-run first inning.
