Kylie Rast struck out 10 batters in a complete game and went 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBIs, and four runs in the leadoff spot to set the tone for Beaufort High softball in a 23-4 road win over Battery Creek on Monday at Whale Branch.
Rast racked up double-digit strikeouts and worked around six walks and four hits to limit the Dolphins to one earned run over five innings, and she manufactured a run after reaching on an error to start the game, setting the tone for a big night on offense.
Battery Creek tied it with a run in the bottom half, but the Eagles erupted for eight runs in the second and Rast blasted a two-run shot to center in the third to make it 11-1. The Dolphins clawed back three runs in the third, but Beaufort tacked on three more in the fourth and nine in the fifth to end it early.
Rast was one of three Eagles with multiple hits, as Kyrsten Cruikshank was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs, and two RBIs, and Caylin Adkins went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Karley Rouse was 1-for-3 with a double, two walks, and three RBIs, and Riley Brozek tripled and scored three runs for a red-hot Beaufort offense.
Kyliee Taff led the Dolphins with two hits, while Caitlyn Bentley and Brooke Crosby each had run-scoring hits, and Niy’asha Myers added an RBI.
The Dolphins travel to Thomas Heyward on Wednesday. Beaufort improved to 2-0 in the regular season with a 2-1 win over John Paul II on Tuesday. We’ll have a full recap on LowcoSports.com later.
