Hilton Head Prep baseball handed rival Hilton Head Christian Academy its first defeat of the season Tuesday, hammering the Eagles 15-0 on their home field.
Steele Burd struck out eight in a four-inning one-hitter, and Landon Schwartz and Phoenix Betancourt each had two hits and two RBIs to lead a balanced Dolphins lineup, which put up multiple runs in each inning.

HHP scored three in the first to take control and tacked on five more over the next two frames before breaking it open with seven in the fourth to invoke the mercy rule after four innings.
Peyton Bullock also had a pair of hits and drove in a run for HHP, while Payce Gartner was 1-for-3 and scored four runs from the leadoff spot, and Gunnar Bonomo had a hit and an RBI.
Keene Reese had the lone hit for the Eagles, a two-out single in the first, before Burd sat down seven of the next eight batters. Reese got aboard again on an error to start the fourth, but Burd struck out the next three batters to preserve the shutout.
Walker Mikkelson started and was tagged with the loss for HHCA.
HHCA (5-1) hosts St. Andrew’s on Thursday. HHP improved to 4-0 with a 17-0 win over Bridges Prep on Wednesday. Check back to LowcoSports.com later for a full recap.
