The youth brigade led the charge for the Sharks, as sophomore Alonzo Peña scored his third goal of the season in the first half and classmate Jacob Madeiros scored off a free kick to give the Sharks a 2-0 halftime lead.
May River dominated possession throughout, keeping the Cadets’ defense on alert all night, and the Sharks put it away when Chris Chin — yet another sophomore — punched home a rebound for the final margin.
The Sharks’ defense controlled the game and limited Benedictine to one shot on goal, which came late in the second half. Keepers Dallas Wisdom and Brayden Garcia combined for the clean sheet.
May River (4-0) hosts Colleton County at 7:30 p.m. Friday to open Region 7-4A play.
