Bluffton girls basketball finished off another perfect region campaign with a 30-23 home win over a scrappy Lucy Beckham team.
Tacoya Heyward scored 10 points, and Katie Rodney and Ja’laina Mosley added six each as the Bobcats won a defensive struggle for their 13th straight victory and 20th of the season.
The Bobcats used their trademark stifling defense to build a 20-10 halftime lead, holding the Bengals to three points in the second quarter. Beckham locked in at the defensive end and limited Bluffton to a single bucket in the third quarter to pull within three, but the Bengals couldn’t muster enough offense to complete the comeback against a tough Bluffton defense.
Mosley scored two big buckets in the fourth, and the Bobcats did just enough at the foul line, as Heyward went 2-for-5 at the stripe and Rodney was 2-for-9.
Bluffton (20-1, 12-0) will host a first-round game in the Class 4A playoffs on Wednesday.
