Hilton Head Christian Academy boys basketball came up just short in its bid for the Colleton Prep Holiday Tournament title on Thursday, falling 49-47 to Orangeburg Prep in the championship game.
The Eagles found themselves in a 10-point hole after the first quarter but surged back to pull even at 28 going into halftime. OP ran back out to a seven-point lead with a strong third quarter, and HHCA drew back within two before falling short down the stretch.
Qayden Turner scored 17 points, Isaiah Anderson added 14, and Connor White and Brady Bagenstose chipped in six each for HHCA, but the Eagles couldn’t overcome a 20-point night from OP star Mikey Templeton, who drained five 3-pointers.
HHCA (2-3) travels to Calvary Day on Monday before beginning region play at home against Colleton Prep on Tuesday.
