HSBBB: Black Bears light it up vs. host Seahawks in Holiday Classic

Hilton Head High boys basketball couldn’t keep up with hot-shooting Harlan County (KY) on Monday, falling 81-40 in the opening round of the Seahawk Holiday Classic

Alex Smith scored eight of his team-high 10 points in the first quarter, but the Black Bears roared to life on the offensive end to go up 19-14 before surging into the break with a 40-19 halftime lead.

It was a tough night for Chane Brown’s Seahawks, who also saw star guard Karyce Campbell exit the game in the first half after charging to the basket. Hilton Head had no answer for the standout three-point shooting of Trent Noah and Harlan County in the second half as the Black Bears rolled to a 41-point win.

Noah led all scorers with 24 points, including four three-pointers, while Jonah Swanner racked up 15 points.

Smith scored 10 points for the Seahawks, and Nate Rohr added eight.

Hilton Head High (4-4, 2-0) faces Martinsburg (WV) in the consolation bracket on Tuesday.
