Hilton Head High’s girls lost a heartbreaker for their first defeat of the season Tuesday, losing 41-40 at Savannah High on a Bluejackets bucket with 3 seconds left.
The Seahawks struggled to get going on offense early, but their scrappy defense kept them in the game with Savannah leading 18-15 at halftime. HHIHS surged to a 28-26 lead entering the fourth, but the buzzer-beater lifted the Bluejackets to a comeback win.
The late heroics spoiled another strong game from Lynda Young, who led the Seahawks with 15 points and eight rebounds. Anna Genova added 10 points for HHIHS, and Gianna Timko contributed six.
The Seahawks (3-1) are back on the road to Georgia on Saturday, taking on Richmond Hill.
