Brandon Howard dazzled with 25 points in his Thomas Heyward hoops debut, and the Rebels outlasted Patrick Henry Academy 57-53 in overtime Tuesday for a season-opening road win.
After leading his football team to a state championship, Howard started basketball season in style, posting 25 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and five steals. Preston Hamilton impressed with 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Rebels, while Jordan Mikell added eight points.
Thomas Heyward (1-0) hosts Patrick Henry for a rematch on Friday.
